Wedding Weekend Part 2: Meanian

When we last left our heroes, we were getting read for the wedding. I was at the hair salon, Logan was at the reception hall, and Elliot was with his Gingy and Grandpa, who were getting him in his tux.

IMG_0465

I arrived at the church first for pictures. The other bridesmaids were there getting ready. We waited a bit for Linzy to arrive and then we had our pictures taken. Then Linzy was successfully hidden away so that we could get pictures of Ian without him seeing Linzy’s beautiful wedding dress. Elliot arrived for pictures too and he and the flower girls provided much entertainment.

Eventually, Slappy came and told us that it was time. Logan and I fixed Elliot’s tux and we all walked around the church to the front to line up. It was quite a challenge to keep the flower girls and Elliot happy while we waited for our turn to walk down the aisle but eventually Logan, Elliot, and I took our turns. Elliot carried a large novelty ring, which at that point he had throw down on the floor and broken probably a half a dozen times. He managed to hold on to the giant ring the entire walk.

Once we arrive at the front, Logan held Elliot for a few moments while the rest of the procession made its way in. Then it was apparent that Elliot was bored, so Logan strategically handed him off to Gingy, who was sitting near the front. The flower girls ended up having to do similarly. Elliot then promptly threw the novelty ring into the aisle where it broke again. Oh well. At least it made it through the important part. Tom eventually took Elliot out of the church… He had watched all of the wedding he could stand, but I think he did as well as could be expected!

The ceremony was lovely. Clarence gave Linzy away without forgetting his line, which after all the build up and rehearsal made Linzy and I laugh. Linzy even surprised Ian with a song, which her friend Elizabeth sang for them. They got hitched and kissed. Then we took a few group pictures (which required some fast positioning of the flower girls by Slappy!) and made our way to the party!

At the party, the wedding planner had us all walk in announced. She said we had to come in enthusiastically or else the party would lack exuberance. So Logan and I walked in with Elliot on Logan’s shoulders.

Elliot, Logan, and I ate with the wedding party, then Gam Gam took Elliot to meet people. Eventually, Elliot got sleepy and rested on Tom. He also rested on Greg, Logan’s God father.

Linzy and Ian had the photographer get everyone one at the reception get on the dance floor to take a picture. Then, as soon as the picture was snapped, the band began to play! I woke Elliot up to dance with me for one song, then Gingy and Grandpa took him back to the hotel while we partied!

We got back after the party and Elliot was sound asleep while Gingy was watching SNL. Logan and I went to bed and the next day we said goodbye to the many relatives who had come into town. Then we headed home. All in all the weekend went off with only one very important hitch.

CONGRATULATIONS LINZY AND IAN! WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ELLIOT’S FIRST COUSIN! 😀

Early Christmas!

I’ll get back to the wedding soon, but first, this most recent weekend!

Elliot went to his Gam Gam’s and Slappy’s to spend the night for the first time without us. He did fine. We did fine too. Apparently, I can sleep through the night just fine. And Elliot has been getting up only once at around 4AM since Logan worked with him while I was on night float. We spent the morning getting the rest of our presents wrapped and under the tree. Then when Elliot’s Grandparent’s brought him back to us we got him ready and took him to see Santa Claus at the Zoo!

Logan and I were prepared to sit with Elliot and Santa, but Elliot did not seem upset so we let him sit by himself for a picture!

Later that evening, we opened our family presents!

Wedding Weekend Part 1: Prenuptial

Auntie Linzy’s big day has come and gone, and what a great time we had! We went to her rehearsal dinner on Thursday night. Aunt Lisa and Kyra rode to Gatlinburg with us. Elliot made friends with the sweet flower girls Jorja and Isabell.

We got through the rehearsal and Elliot only broke his toy ring twice. Then we ate dinner at Calhoun’s, which was delicious. I dropped Logan and Elliot off at Linzy’s house for the night and I went to work. Logan reports that Linzy and her friends came in late and woke Elliot at midnight, but he got them back at 6:30AM!

Then next day, Logan and Elliot went to the Bridal luncheon at the Pancake House while mommy slept after her shift.

I arrived at the hotel that evening. Linzy and I hung out in the hotel room and played with Elliot while we waited for the parade. Linzy lamented that her friends would not hang out with her that afternoon before her wedding. Little did she know, we were about to start her SURPRISE BACHELORETTE PARTY!

Elliot watched the Gatlinburg Parade with his Gingy, Grandpa, and Uncle Tom.

The next day was the big wedding day! I went to go get my hair did and Logan went to go help set up the reception. My parents got Elliot ready!

The Night Float Campaign

In the continuing saga of the War on Sleeping, this week I am working the Night Float Shift at Work (8pm to 8am), which apparently makes me Capitalize random words in my Sentences. I have reached the bargaining stage of exhaustion. Maybe it’s not too late to go back to school and become an engineer?

Anyways, it is wonderful to get to see Elliot some during the day! Without me at home at night, Logan has been doing some sleep training with Elliot. He has only been getting him once at night around 3am for a feeding. Otherwise, Logan lets Elliot settle himself, which it turns out he can do rather quickly for the most part. The result? Elliot gets a good night’s sleep and is so very pleasant and playful during the day. His cuteness factor has gone off the charts! It is irresistible! Critical victory achieved!
