Uncle Tom got some headphones, but the present ended up in Elliot’s pile, so he opened it. He was pretty confused.

Early Christmas!

We opened presents a little early. We did make it all the way to the first day of Winter this time for our family gifts and then Santa came on Sunday morning.

On the unseasonably warm first day of Winter, we sat by together to open some presents wrapped. Elliot had some of his favorite “Malk Choc” and I drank some spice tea. We exchanged a few gifts with the camera positioned enticingly on the piano keys.

He’s so sneaky…

Here are the bath paints in action as well as his new bath airplane.

The next day Santa came! Elliot got more trains, an RC Thomas, a Yo Gabba Gabba boom box, some Seasme Street dolls, a toy piano with two octaves and working black keys, and a drum kit!

Per request, here are the first few of minutes of Elliot enjoying his presents.

We watched his Monsters University movie in spurts later that day. Logan and I were enjoying it, having watch the first one many years ago, but Elliot kept leaving. I ended up setting him up with his favorite youtube channel, Coilbook with Shawn the Train. As soon as the movie was over, Elliot came back in the room and hugged me! Were the monsters scaring him? It had not really occurred to us that they might! So we practiced Roaring to lighten the mood of the situation.

Funny story with Daddy

Elliot and Logan were in the dairy section of Food City. Elliot was walking by the coolers and touching each carton along the way, saying “malk… malk… malk.” Then he noticed a slightly different bottle and he turned to Logan stunned and exclaimed “Malk Choc!”

Funny story with Slappy

So I am getting this story 2nd and 3rd hand from Logan and Slappy but hopefully the details will be close to accurate. Logan, Aunt Linzy, Slappy, Elliot, and Charlotte went out on Tuesday to shop and visit Granny. Logan and Linzy went into a store and briefly left their children in the capable hands of Slappy in Slappy’s truck. Whilst they were gone, Charlotte was rolling her head and bumped in into something causing her to cry. At the same time, Elliot managed to put on Linzy’s big Old Navy Lady glasses and was attempting to extract his blanket from the door, his face turning red and all the while screaming “Night night! stuck!”

“That sounds hilarious! Did you get a picture?” I asked Slappy, to which he replied, “I barely survived!”

Linzy sent this picture as an idealistic representation of the afternoon.

“Good babies”

The Toddler bed is still an issue, although becoming less so. Logan and I are able to get him to sleep if we lie with him for only ~25 minutes, instead of the hour it was at first. He still screams at us for awhile, which conveniently makes him tired and seems to help him go to sleep but does not do much for our parenting egos. Hopefully things will continue to improve.

“He did that himself. I just tucked the blankets in around him some.” – Logan

Happy 20 months, my dear boy!

We got our photos with Santa today!

Elliot is at this age.

I truly did try to coach him all morning. I told him the story of Santa Claus and showed him his picture from last year. Nevertheless, when the time came, the “stranger danger” instinct kicked in, which I guess is really a good thing.

He did get to do some fun things while we were at the zoo today. He made a wreath with Mommy, saw some chickens with Daddy, and played around in a tunnel… What could be better?!?!

In other news, for the record Logan and I have lost our sanity and are trying for kid number two (or at least not preventing). Hopefully, by the time next kid gets here we will be ready… Elliot needs a camping buddy!
