Day 366: The creature continues to gain mobility. We have also noticed him trying to communicate with various one syllable words such as “ball, “kick,” and “good.” I have also heard him say “ba-woon” once!
I can’t believe it has already been one year. I was thinking earlier today about how when we brought Elliot home from the hospital he could not even hold his head up. Now he can walk, talk, kick, laugh, push, sleep through the night… What a ride!
Now we are beginning the process of weaning. Logan has been encouraging him to drink juice and cow’s milk from a sippy cup and straw throughout the day. We have been ordering him a cup with a lid and water when we go to restaurants. I breastfed him for the last time this morning. *sigh* I will miss it. I felt like it helped keep us close. He is getting too big for me though. We already have to supplement him a lot with formula. Plus, unless he is really sleepy, I feel like I have to wrangle him to get him to drink from me. So it goes…
We celebrated Elliot’s birthday this weekend with a BBQ at our house. Logan and I put together his pirate ship water table from Gam Gam the night before to surprise him!

My parent’s and Art came in the night before to help. The morning of the party was spent cleaning the house inside and out while Gingy, Art, and Elliot went to get a cake from Sweet Celebrations.

Logan smoked pork and salmon (and the house), and Gam Gam, Aunt Lisa, Aunt Linzy, and Juanita brought food.

We decorated the house in Yo Gabba Gabba that afternoon.

By the time the guests started arriving, Elliot was a couple of hours into a good nap. I gently woke him and got him dressed for the party with Gingy and Aunt Lisa’s help.

There were lots of guests, but it was all people that Elliot knew and liked, so he got over the crowdedness of the party pretty quickly.

Some of my coworkers brought their kids and babies, which Elliot liked.

Here is Elliot having some fun with his Aunt Linzy and Uncle Ian!

Additionally, the party was at our house and the weather was great so Elliot got to play outside! In summary, Elliot was a great host and I was so proud!

For some reason, Elliot was very suspicious about the cake. We all had a bite to show him that it was good, but all he did was poke it with his fork.

Here are a few of Elliot’s awesome presents!

Elliot partying!

My favorite memory is when we opened this dump truck. Elliot was so excited that he took off with it down our yard to play with it!

At the end of the day, I made him try on his baby hat from when he was born. It seems like only yesterday… It still kinda fits…

Happy first birthday, Elliot! You are your daddy’s and my favorite cuddly buddly!
