Baby Stories Worth Recording, Vol. 1

on May 30, 2012

Gingy mentioned that it was great that I was writing these stories about Elliot down. So I was thinking, a few baby stories got mentioned this weekend that are pretty funny. Why not write them down too?!?!

When Cousin Robert was little, Gingy had some Ghostbusters toys of Art’s. She dressed him up in it and was trying to get him to say “I ain’t afraid of no ghost.” Robert finally responded, “I am not afraid of any ghost.” This is the kind of grammatical skill that Logan would like Elliot to have someday!

Uncle Arthur was being slick with Gingy one day. She had taken off his diaper and was about to change him when he crawled away from her on their rather high bed. He looked back at her from the opposite edge of the bed and laughed. Then he took one more step (crawl?) without looking and fell off the other side of the bed!

Gingy had a Halloween decoration that was a picture of a mummy whose eyes lit up red and made a ghoulish wail. She called him “Uncle Spooky”. Robert called him “Uncle Pookie”. Matthew called him “Uncle Poopie”.

When I was a toddler, I was running and fell hard at some side path on Cade’s Cove. Some older ladies saw me and tried to soothe me by saying, “That didn’t hurt you!” I calmly replied, “Yes, it did.” and walked on.

Cousin Victoria wanted a bike for Christmas. Her father had it stored in a closet but must have forgotten since one day he opened the closet in her presence. Victoria exclaimed, “I could use one of those!” Her dad told her, “That’s not a real bike.” and she fell for it.

***SPOILERS – Do not read if you do not know about Santa Claus***
Gingy told Tom the truth about Santa Claus. Uncle Tom came back later asked about the Easter Bunny. Gingy said, “Do you want to know the truth?” Tom did. “I’m the Easter Bunny.” Tom replies, “You mean you go to all those houses!?!?”
