Introducing… Elliot and Winston!

Born April 2012 and May 2015

Catching up

Where to begin… this has been a wacky month. Logan and I have been on the road a lot because I have been interviewing for abdominal imaging fellowship positions, which is a one year program providing subspecialized training. I am happy to report that my search is over and I have accepted a position at Vanderbilt starting July 2015. In addition to really liking the program, logistically it makes the most sense. We are very excited!

While Logan and I were driving all over the southeast, Elliot was having fun at his Gingy’s. He even went to her Montessori school a few days, where he reportedly did quite well despite being a little underage for the program. Here are some pictures of Elliot learning.

To back up a bit, we had our annual “Cabin in the Mountains” celebration over Labor Day weekend. Elliot, Logan, Uncle Arthur, and I went up a day early to stay in the Safari tents!

We visited Linzy and Elliot went for a ride!

We got there Wednesday afternoon and Art, Elliot, and I went to Best Italian for dinner, while Logan went to pick up his dad from the airport. Elliot ate all of the olives from my pizza! He is a weird kid…

That night we played Trivial Pursuit Jr. and Card Against Humanity with Linzy and Ian. Elliot helped roll the dice! We slept in the luxury tents that night and the next morning we went swimming in the pool. Logan was making Elliot laugh by diving in the pool and surfacing right in front of him and me… that is until he scraped his poor nose on the bottom of the pool. I guess it was no diving for a reason…

We went to some hotdog place for lunch, where I had a mac and cheese hotdog. Then we headed for the cabin. Elliot needed a nap, but he did not get much of one since he woke up when we arrived. We spent the afternoon entertaining the boy and trying to get the internet to work. Soon, other cabin goers arrived; Cindy, Jeff, Mary, Joe, Gingy, Grandpa, Peggy, and Kenny. We all ate Papa Murphy’s Pizza and visited.

The next day, we went on a little hike to try to find a choo choo. We didn’t find it, but Logan and Elliot found some flowers.

Then we went to the Old Mill for lunch. That evening, Tom, Jeremy, Laura, Jessica, and Ryan arrived. Tom’s birthday was that weekend, so he got an awesome Thomas cake!

A bunch of cabin goers went to bike and run Cades Cove the next morning. We decided to pass. There was a bit of excitement later when one of the vans had a run in with a kid on a dirt bike. Fortunately, everyone was ok. Logan and Art went to the Vols football game later. We stayed in and ate some delicious pork that Cindy and Jeff made.

The next day, we went to Gatlinburg. We ate at the Smoky Mountain Brewery.

We got some awesome passes that let us do all things Ripley. So we went to the Ripley’s Believe it or not, The Mirror Maze, and the Aquarium.

The next day, Logan and I left for North Carolina to begin the interview process (which concluded as above). Elliot left for Gingy’s. All in all a good cabin experience.

The next weekend, Tom took Elliot and me sailing for the first time.

Here is Elliot exploring the bunk in Tom’s sail boat. Pretty nice!

I think that about catches everything up. I really need to put a post with Elliot’s most recent vocabulary. Here are some samples: bah = applesauce pouch, night night = blanket, and do bah do bah do = we’re not sure, but it is really cute!
